In addition to all of the pandemic announcements we see on the news those of us connected to Laurentian University in any way have probably been following the story of the re-structuring going on in that institution.  The ripple effect of these changes has impacted so many people that everyone is reeling.  Included in the groups affected is Thorneloe University – part of the Federated University.  As a sitting member of the Board of Governors of Thorneloe I have been asked to maintain a level of confidentiality about the particulars of the discussions but I feel free to share the fact that the Board and its Executive Committee have been working very hard to maintain the quality education Thorneloe has provided for the past 60 years while supporting the staff at Thorneloe in the midst of these unprecedented times.  I commend Thorneloe and all its partners at Laurentian to your prayers as plans are being made to continue to provide university level education in Sudbury.  The story will unfold in ways we cannot predict but the objective will always be, as far as the Thorneloe Board is concerned, to provide quality educational opportunities to the students who enroll in courses at Laurentian through Thorneloe.  I suggest the prayer below as one which would be appropriate to offer at this time.

A prayer

O Eternal God, bless all schools, colleges, and universities, especially Thorneloe University and its Federated partners at Laurentian, that they may be lively centres for sound learning, new discovery, and pursuit of wisdom; and grant that those who teach and those who learn may find you to be the source of all truth; and help all those who are charged with the responsibility of governing at these universities wisdom and courage; throughJesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
