Hardcover In God's Hands: The Archbishop of Canterbury's Lent Book 2015 BookArchbishop Anne Germond will be leading a Lenten book study on Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s book, “In God’s Hands” on Wednesday evenings at 7pm, beginning on March 9th. In God’s Hands was written in 2014 and used as the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent Book in 2015. This book is a meditation on the infinite love of God and the infinite value of the human individual.

Throughout his often-turbulent life, Archbishop Tutu fought for justice and against oppression and prejudice. What kept him going was his unshakeable belief that we are all created in God’s image and are infinitely valuable – “God-carriers” to use the ‘Arch’s’ own words. “If we truly believed that we are each a God-carrier and a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit then we would not just greet each other by shaking hands, we would bow deeply as Buddhists do, or genuflect in front of each other: ‘the God in me greets the God in you.’ (pg.22). Archbishop Anne often thinks of this in this time of pandemic when we are unable to shake hands. Instead of flashing a peace sign we could bow to one another.

This book study will be done virtually.  Please contact your local incumbent/clergy for details to connect virtually.
